UK - Whisby-4 well : Whisby Oilfield

Map showing Whisby Oilfield

The Whisby Oilfield is a producing oilfield located in the East Midlands Petroleum Province close to the West Firsby Oilfield. The Field had previously produced 0.25mmbo over a period of ten years declining to less than 5 bopd in 2001. In 2002, Europa farmed-in to the field by drilling the Whisby-4 well.

The Whisby-4 well commenced oil production in January 2003 and flowed at initial rates of 600 bopd. A beam pump was installed on the well in August 2003. Production history from the well, which has produced in excess of 350,000 bbls of oil, demonstrates that it is performing significantly better than the previous wells with no sign of significant decline. The oil production is transported to the ConocoPhillips Immingham Refinery and sold at a small discount to Brent.
