The Voitinel-1 well drilled a substantial structural closure at Badenian level. Although the Badenian and Albian reservoirs were water-wet, significant intervals of high mud gas were encountered in the overlying Sarmatian sequence. Three sandy intervals were encountered in this gassy sequence, the lowest of which was tested and flowed 3mmscfgpd. The most promising upper unit is expected to be tested early in 2010, along with a frac stimulation of the proven productive zone to provide advance information for development options.
The Operator had initially indicated its estimate of 50-100bcf giip from the proven tested zone. In February 2010, the Operator published an upgrade to 400bcf gas-in-place potential in the trend. This is based on drilling success by Romgaz along trend in the block to the south, opening up the whole Voitinel-Solca trend as potentially one giant gas fairway.
