Romania - EIII-4 Bacau Block

Exploration effort in this block has concentrated to date in the northeastern corner, close to the 600bcf Roman Gasfield. Prospectivity in this part of the block is for stratigraphic traps in Sarmatian gas sands and possible Badenian structural traps.

The Lilieci Prospect, which is situated in the northeastern part of the block, was spudded in August 2008, Europa's costs being substanially carried under a Farmout Agreement. The well encountered thin gas-bearing sands which flowed modest rates on test. Europa decided, on commercial grounds, to elect not to participate in any subsequent appraisal and development work on Lilieci. Consequently, Europa has no interest in the small area of the concession around Lilieci, but retains its 19% working interest in the remainder of the concession.
