The UK is currently using twice as much gas than we are producing from the North Sea and onshore and we are importing half of the gas that we consume from abroad. In 2023 43% of this imported gas was in the form of LNG tankers. This imported gas results in emissions over 20 times greater than domestic production.

How do you think we should manage this situation moving forward until the technology and infrastructure improves to make renewables an effective option for replacing heating in our industry sites and homes and generating reliable electricity?*
